• Students with dyslexia or dysgraphia

• Students who are at least 2-grade levels below in writing and grammar proficiency

Overview:

This intensive writing course is meticulously designed for middle schoolers encountering challenges with writing mechanics. Tailored to bolster foundational skills, it empowers students to evolve into proficient writers. Over two weeks, students will engage in a comprehensive multisensory approach, merging theoretical understanding with practical application.

Week One: Building Grammar Foundations

The first-week delves into the fundamental aspects of grammar. Utilizing Project Read's Framing Your Thoughts alongside traditional diagramming techniques, students master subject-verb agreement, adjectives, adverbs, and direct and indirect objects. By emphasizing individualized learning, diverse multisensory approaches are encouraged to accommodate varied learning styles.

Week Two: Crafting Coherent Narratives

The subsequent week pivots towards the art of composition. Students embark on a topic selection and expansion journey, honing their skills by crafting at least three well-structured paragraphs. The multisensory graphic organizers used are from Story Grammar Marker. Leveraging the grammar skills acquired in the prior week, students will apply these skills to articulate compelling narratives.

Course Specialization:

This intensive program caters to students grappling with dyslexia, dysgraphia, or those behind in their grade-level writing proficiency. This virtual intensive writing course offers flexibility and accessibility to learners seeking to enhance their writing capabilities.

• July 8th - July 19th: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EST

• August 5th - August 16th: 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm EST
